About Us
Founder Story
Hi, I’m Oisín Fahy, the founder of Whack Vintage. I’m 26 and originally from Nenagh, County Tipperary. My love for vintage clothing started when my uncle Stephen gave me a red Tommy Hilfiger sailing jacket. I absolutely loved it, and that’s what inspired me to start buying and selling vintage pieces.
After helping a friend out with his own vintage brand Silly Sids Vintage in Slane, Me and my friend Cian Cunningham decided to try and bring vintage to the University of Limerick and, eventually, to Limerick City and Munster. Since then, Whack Vintage has grown from small pop-ups to nationwide events and now our very own markets.
Outside of vintage, I graduated with a degree in Sports Science from the University of Limerick, and I’ve been working as a personal trainer for the past six years. In my spare time, I love playing tennis, padel, and hitting the gym.
About Us
Whack Vintage started in the University of Limerick as a passion project between myself and my friend, Cian Cunningham. What began as a way to express our individuality soon became an answer to the lack of affordable vintage options for students in Limerick City.
Since late 2019/early 2020, we have hosted pop-up shops across universities throughout Ireland and at venues such as the Crescent Shopping Centre. Building on that momentum, in March 2023 we launched our own market — The Ivory Elephant Market — which now runs twice a month, on the second Sunday and the last Thursday.
Our mission has always been simple: to provide affordable, high-quality, hand-picked vintage clothing that allows people to express themselves in unique and individual ways.
Us vs Them
What sets us apart from other vintage brands is our focus on quality and individuality. Every item we sell is hand-selected, ensuring that our customers get unique pieces that stand out, along with a curated range of cool jewellery. We’re especially known for our authentic, one-of-a-kind crazy fleeces, vintage jackets, jerseys, and sweaters — the kind of pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
You can find us every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Limerick Milk Market, and we also host special events each month through our event page “The Ivory Elephant Market”, creating a space where people can explore, connect, and celebrate local businesses with the best of vintage clothes and so much more!
